Expert Resolution of IG System Issues on Tanker Ships
Initial Call to Service Engineers
In December, our service engineers were asked to visit the tanker ship “Liaki Freedom”; this tanker was experiencing IG problems. The ship was in Fort de France in Martinique and could not discharge because the IGG was not functioning properly. Knowing there were issues with the O2 analyzer, service engineers brought a complete O2 analyzer from the Ravebo stock.
Onboard Diagnosis and Immediate Action
Once the service engineers were on board, it turned out that the O2 analyzer was indeed not working properly. Our service technicians had the necessary spare parts and the Oxus O2 analyzer with them so that work could start immediately.
Replacing the O2 Analyzer
First, the old O2 analyzer was checked and found to be non-functional. The old O2 analyzer was dismantled, then the brought-along Oxus O2 analyzer was installed, and the existing piping was modified to make everything fit.
Calibration and Testing of the New System
After installing the Oxus O2 analyzer, it was calibrated and then tested. Subsequently, all components of the IG system were checked.
Adjustments for Automated Operation
Because the system did not operate in automatic mode, all valve positioners and the I/P converter were calibrated on site, and all input and output signals were checked. Adjustments were made to ensure the system worked correctly and stably.
Training and Recommendations
The service engineers also gave a short training on calibrating the Oxus O2 analyzer (including tips and tricks for using and troubleshooting the IG system).
Upgrading to the New Oxus O2 Analyzer
This new type of Oxus O2 analyzer is the recommended analyzer for all Kangrim IG installations. These new analyzers are now replacing all old models. Because the proper functioning of these analyzers is of great importance, it is advisable to have 2 analyzers on board so that if one fails or needs maintenance, it is possible to switch directly to the other analyzer without disrupting the process. Ravebo can offer a switching package and take care of its installation.
24/7 Support for IG System Issues
Ravebo has experienced service engineers available 24/7 to travel to ships with IG problems. They can diagnose the problem and often fix it within a few hours of presence. Our service engineers can also perform annual and five-yearly checks on the IG installations.
