As being an authorized Sales & Service agent of Tanktech, the Korean shipbuilding and offshore equipment manufacturer, we’re proud to announce that Tanktech has recently attained an intrinsic safety certification for its portable oil/water interface detectors (UTI). All by Tanktech manufactured UTI’s are included; the T2000-TFC-01 and TFC-02 which are for chemical tankers and the T2000-TFS-01 which is for crude oil tankers.
As of July 2003, organizations in EU must follow the directives to protect employees from explosion risk in areas with an explosive atmosphere.
Manufacturers must ensure that their products meet essential health and safety requirements and undergo appropriate conformity procedures. This usually involves testing and certification by a ‘third-party’ certification body (known as a Notified Body i.e. Sira, Intertek, Baseefa, Lloyd's,TUV ICQC) and the certification ensures that the equipment or protective system is fit for its intended purpose and that adequate information is supplied with it to ensure that it can be used safely.
After tests conducted at a British certification body for equipment, Tanktechs’ portable oil / water interface detector received the IECEx and ATEX certifications.
The occurrence of gas explosion or dust explosion is central to the ATEX guidelines.
With the appliance of these certifications, Tanktech is proving its product quality, together with its big remark of onboard safety for all users.
Ravebo has already adapted to this, in example we carry out pressure tests on the unit to check the air tightness.
An UTI measures the boundary layer between water and oil in tank quickly and precisely for effective operation and management of tank. Every oil cargo carrier must have the device that meets the International Maritime Organization's (IMO's) Resolution MEPC (XIII).
The next step for Tanktech is the process of attaining Korea's explosion proof certification KCs.
